Residential building

The back of the house faces south. This one has the original, 50 cm. thick 'en pierre' walls. The roof was realized in 2022, following the example of houses that are traditional here in the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne. Oak uprights, Douglas planks, zinc gutters and Romanesque roof tiles were used.

On the left the house part, on the right the gîte. The fruit trees and the beautiful silver poplar. The house and the gîte are back to back (optimal privacy for everyone).

Neighbours: 100 meters further, on the other side of a narrow road with hardly any traffic. It is quiet here and still really dark at night. Besides the silence, you will also enjoy the starry sky!

This is the front of the house with the gîte door on the right.

The east side of the house also still has the old thick stone wall. It is wonderful to sit here in the morning sun.

And then the west side of the house can be used by guests or family staying in the gîte. The electric roller shutters, which can be operated from the inside, work on solar energy.

View to the northwest.

The canopy. Nice to get into the house dry when it rains or to sit in the shade in the summer.

Seat under the canopy next to the new front door. This front door was made in 2022 by the local carpenter based on the example of the old, but completely worn out door. A very solid, hardwood door with a two-parts.

All windows and frames in the house were renewed in 2023. All with double glazing, according to the old model with the compartment division and new mosquito screens for each window.

The vegetable garden at the front left. The above-ground swimming pool is included in the purchase. It is 1.20 m high and 4 meters in diameter. A stable wooden staircase has been added. There is a saltwater system. The house is surrounded by fields and small forests.

The kitchen, with refrigerator, oven, gas stove and dishwasher. Original tomettes on the floor. Entrance from the hall.

New (2023) Jotul stove in the kitchen with completely new chimney.

Living room. A fixed corner cupboard, a Jotul wood stove (2021), original tomette tiles on the floor.

Living room. Entrance from the hall.

A large, wonderfully bright bedroom. The high ceiling and the mezzanine (attic) ensure that it remains cool in the summer. The enormous closets have plenty of storage space.

The French doors lead to the west-facing veranda. The door goes through a small bathroom with shower, sink and washing machine connection to the kitchen.

The veranda from the bedroom. You can step outside straight from your bed!

Gîte

We use the gîte as an independent accommodation for friends and family. We also rent it out through Airbnb.

The entrance to the gîte is on the other side of the house. So a lot of privacy. A large rainwater collection tank.
